Open House + Farewell
As many of you know, our three-year lease at 825 Warner St SW ends on June 30th. In light of recent events, we have had to pivot many times over the past three months and any prospect of a future iteration is highly uncertain. However, we are hosting a final Open House instead of any type of event in order to give away remaining possessions and allow folks one last chance to visit if they want.
Depending on interest, we might add additional safety measures and increase precautions but, in the meantime, the following is required:
- masks (bring them, wear them, keep them on)
- constant social distancing
- arrive in small groups and sign-in
If you plan to leave with any objects, we encourage a truck, dolly, and gloves, maybe a moving buddy too. Donations welcome via Venmo @thebakeryatlanta and Cash App $thebakeryatlanta. Stay tuned for more details.
Stay safe and we'll see you Sunday ☀️

Earth Day 2020 - (CANCELED)

Negative Pressure: Landscape 3 Opening Reception - (CANCELED)
All are welcome to attend the premiere of Eddie Farr’s Landscape 3 as part of his Negative Pressure installation series. The series presents interactive environments based on computer generated landscapes. Guests are invited to explore the fabricated space where their interactions with embedded sensors in the floor will cause surreal motion in soft elements overhead. Landscape 3 is composed of a network of sensors, a large fabric element, and a grid of motors suspended from the ceiling.
The series is a result of Farr’s experiments with early computer generated landscapes and his desire to give guests control over the experience of his work and the process of creative discovery. The calming yet uncanny installation aims to renew a sense of wonder and curiosity in the built environment and inspire imaginative alternate realities.
Opening Reception: Thursday, April 16 7:00-9:00pm
Artist Talk & Closing Reception: Sunday, May 10 2:00-4:00pm
Gallery Hours: Monday – Friday 12:00–4:00pm

Opening Reception: Habibae
Opening Reception: Sunday, March 15th at 6PM
Habibae was founded by Atlanta artist and curator, Samiyah Malik. The purpose of Malik’s art is to elevate and inspire others to love themselves. Her initiative with Habibae is to provide the Muslim community with a space to party and vibe without the pressures of alcohol being present. Hence the term, “a halal party.” Alcohol is haram (not permissible) in Islam, and the events and spaces created by Habibae will aim to make Muslims feel comfortable practicing their faith. In collaboration with Cayce Tiedemann of Queer + Sober Atlanta, the “sober bar” will be serving mocktails and hot teas throughout the night. This collaboration also invites Queer Muslims to feel seen and be heard in the community. The talent showcased is specifically catered towards black and brown creatives, with an emphasis on Black Muslim Women artists.
Come out and enjoy local art, a sober bar, and sounds by DJ CLASSICALDREAMS, performances by AlaTheHeartist & Banglanta, and vegan eats by 7suns2moons. To stay connected and updated, follow @atlhabibae and @insamniyah for future events and open artist calls.

The Bakery Atlanta presents: Artist Skillshare Series! This workshop series was created to fill the need for accessible education in Atlanta.
_____
March 14 Daniel DeSimone (Face of Knives Productions, Sound Engineer at The Bakery Atlanta) is preparing an introductory talk on the absolute basics of LIVE sound engineering. Topics subject to change but generally including:
Characteristics and Physics of Sound and Hearing

Plus hopefully a brief Q&A at the end for specific questions or off topic chats
If notes are your thing we encourage you to bring a laptop, tablet, or pen/paper

A more detailed syllabus will be available closer to the date. In the meantime please post in the group or email daniel@thebakeryatlanta.com if there is a specific topic you want to see covered.
Hopefully this will be the start of a larger series of sound courses that will get more in depth into the nuances of Audio, Live Music, and engineering, but for now we are trying to keep it 101
Daniel has a certificate in Music Business from the University of Georgia and a resume including
- 1 year of interning at Studio 1093 in Athens, GA
- 2.5 Years of Booking in Atlanta as Face of Knives Productions
- 4 Years of Live Audio Engineering
- 3 Years as a Touring / Recording member and co-manager of the band Malevich
