Eager to learn welding but have no idea where to start?
This workshop covers welding from a fabrication perspective, which includes processes of: project design, material acquisition, cutting materials efficiently and safely, and proper welding techniques for ensuring a strong and safe bond of your materials into a cohesive structure.
Workshop breakdown:
1. strategies for designing metal fabrication projects
2. measuring and cutting metal material with an abrasive cut wheel
3. buffing metal material with an angle grinder
4. metal joining techniques with a MIG welding machine
+++ attendees will create their own steel tube frame to take home by the end of the workshop +++
Safety Requirements:
1. Attendees must be 18+ (maybe we'll host a kids welding workshop in the future!)
2. Please wear :
☠️ long sleeve pants that are denim or 100% cotton and a long sleeve shirt that's 100% cotton as well (button up denim or flannel shirts work great!). Wearing cotton is very important because it protects your skin from sparks + welding light exposure.
☠️ long hair back and remove any jewelry (earring studs OK)
☠️ leather boots(preferred) or closed toes shoes (make sure pants cover over socks)
3. Safety equipment available at the workshop:
🔥 welding helmets (fixed shade)
🔥 leather work / welding gloves
🔥 safety transparent goggles
