Team Structure
The Bakery Atlanta is a place to explore your creative potential as well as learn the necessary arts administration skills required to work with any creative nonprofit. We are a collective of artists, curators, and administrators. Our programming is reflective of our team’s interest and our internal capacity. Our ‘leadership roles’ are paid contract positions that have a capped amount of billable hours. Each project has deadlines but no set working hours outside of scheduled meetings. You will be part of The Bakery Atlanta’s administrative team. All paid jobs are 1099 contractor roles with a starting pay rate of $15/hr. We accept a range of applicants for these contract jobs.
In addition to paid positions, we offer support for passion projects (volunteer facilitators, curators, and ambassadors). We also accept interns and volunteers from high school seniors to those advanced in their careers. School credit can be offered to those who qualify and we are always happy to write letters of recommendation for excellent work.
We onboard new team members and volunteers on a rolling basis. Interested applicants must follow the instructions outlined at the bottom of this page.
Requirements for all positions:
Proactive verbal and written communication via multiple channels
Good email etiquette and conversational skills
Knowledge of tools, both digital and physical
Clear goals for what you want to achieve for yourself and for The Bakery
Must have a reliable source of transportation and a personal computer
Act as an ambassador for The Bakery, by championing our mission and upholding our Code of Conduct
Keep track of your hours
If your position is paid, send your timesheet and an invoice every 2 to 4 weeks

How to Apply
Our 2024 approach to team structure merges our internship program (which has graduated 20+ creatives since 2018) and traditional nonprofit jobs. Considering our hybrid model offers a mutually beneficial educational exchange, please let us know how you think you’d best fit into the organization AND what you hope to learn from The Bakery.
All positions, volunteer or paid, require a commitment of at least 3 months. The pay rate is determined by skill level, internal budget, and external funding. Our core team is small so we on-board new members as we have the bandwidth to ensure it is a meaningful exchange. Please outline your time commitment and availability in your email.
We require a high level of commitment and professionalism from all team members. This includes clear communication (verbal and written), attention to detail (on paper and in real life), email proficiency (the ability to maintain competent communications between internal and external relationships), self-sufficiency (the ability to manage your own time), and a high level of initiative (we are all freelance workers who use The Bakery to further our personal careers). We want you to grow with us while helping The Bakery and the entire arts ecosystem of Atlanta!
To apply, please send an email to hello@thebakeryatlanta.com. The subject line should read Application: [Position Title]. The email should include:
