Artist Skillshare Series: Live Sound Engineering 101 - (CANCELED)

  • The Bakery Atlanta 825 Warner Street Southwest Atlanta, GA, 30310 United States (map)

The Bakery Atlanta presents: Artist Skillshare Series! This workshop series was created to fill the need for accessible education in Atlanta.
_____

March 14 Daniel DeSimone (Face of Knives Productions, Sound Engineer at The Bakery Atlanta) is preparing an introductory talk on the absolute basics of LIVE sound engineering. Topics subject to change but generally including:

Characteristics and Physics of Sound and Hearing
Names and Uses of Microphones and Cabling
Types of Speakers and their Uses
Signal Flow
Anatomy of a PA System
Anatomy of a Mixing Board
Monitoring
Making your Mix
Plus hopefully a brief Q&A at the end for specific questions or off topic chats

If notes are your thing we encourage you to bring a laptop, tablet, or pen/paper

This is NOT a session about studio engineering. Many of these concepts overlap but the focus will be on the basics of sound in a live setting

A more detailed syllabus will be available closer to the date. In the meantime please post in the group or email daniel@thebakeryatlanta.com if there is a specific topic you want to see covered.

Hopefully this will be the start of a larger series of sound courses that will get more in depth into the nuances of Audio, Live Music, and engineering, but for now we are trying to keep it 101

Daniel has a certificate in Music Business from the University of Georgia and a resume including
- 1 year of interning at Studio 1093 in Athens, GA
- 2.5 Years of Booking in Atlanta as Face of Knives Productions
- 4 Years of Live Audio Engineering
- 3 Years as a Touring / Recording member and co-manager of the band Malevich

This event has a suggested donation of $5-20 for attendance but nobody will be denied for lack of funds. Please offer what you feel the experience is worth for you but remember that higher donations allow us to do these more frequently and better.
