The Atlanta art collective announces nonprofit status, a board of directors, a series of grants and awards, and a new home to kick off 2024
ATLANTA, GA – August 5, 2024 – The Bakery Atlanta, a dynamic collective of artists, curators, and administrators, today announces its major developments and achievements from the first half of 2024. Although their programming history dates back to 2017, the organization was recently incorporated as a nonprofit and received 501(c)3 status in March of 2023. Since then, The Bakery has worked with hundreds of artists, continuing to provide resources, space, and support. The organization remains dedicated to empowering artists and fostering a collaborative, experimental, and innovative environment.
Growing Local Support and Funding
In 2024, The Bakery Atlanta has received 6 substantial grants so far. To date, they have garnered support from The Community Corps Foundation, The City of Atlanta’s Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs, the Georgia Council for the Arts, and Fulton County’s Contract for Services program. Additionally, the collective was honored with the prestigious One More Hour grant by Hinge, further bolstering its community-centered, in-person programming. The Bakery also received the newly founded ConvergeATL’s award “CULTIVATE,” recognizing its pivotal role in nurturing local talent and fostering an inclusive, creative community.

To enhance its leadership and impact, The Bakery has established its first official board of directors, welcoming esteemed members:

New Initiatives and Community Engagement
This summer, The Bakery moved into, and helped open, The Supermarket, an art and creative event space in Poncey-Highland. The Bakery Atlanta is proud and excited to be the anchor tenant and programming partner at The Supermarket, where they will continue to host exhibitions, workshops, and events, expanding the organization’s reach and impact.
To support this growth, The Bakery has also hired new part-time staff including a Programming Manager, a Digital Resources Manager and a Development Assistant, ensuring continued success and growth.

The Bakery Atlanta takes a DIY approach to supporting artists. Our mission is to broaden awareness of, and build community around, progressive ideas in the arts. We are the anchor tenant and programming partner at The Supermarket, a new creative event space in Poncey-Highland. Visit us at The Supermarket (638 N.
