"Year of the Rabbit"

  • The Bakery South Downtown 92 Peachtree Street Southwest Atlanta, GA, 30303 United States (map)

Year of the Rabbit is a three day exhibition celebrating AAPI artists and creatives working in and around Atlanta.

Friday 1/20/23 @ 4pm-9pm

Saturday 1/21/23 @ 11am-4pm

Sunday 1/22/23 @ 11am-4pm

For far too long, Asian-Americans have been expected to keep our heads down, to play by the rules, and to take up as little space as possible. We’re lauded only insofar as we can benefit white hegemony; our art and our cultures are pushed aside.

For Lunar New Year 2023, The Bakery Atlanta invites you to support and celebrate the AAPI creative community working in and around Atlanta. We hope to highlight the majesty of AAPI art, to demonstrate the force of the AAPI arts community in Atlanta, and to inspire future generations to take up space unapologetically. This exhibition is curated by Karina Teichert, a Bakery team member, Georgia Tech student, and AAPI creative.

The suggested donation range for this event is $5 - $30. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Red Canary Song, a grassroots massage worker coalition in the U.S. There are over 9,000 workplaces like these across the country with no political representation, access to labor rights, or collective organizing. Red Canary Song also organizes transnationally with Asian sex workers across the diaspora in Toronto, Paris, and Hong Kong.
