Something’s Missing: Highlighting the Work of Black Photographers

  • The Bakery South Downtown 92 Peachtree Street Southwest Atlanta, GA, 30303 United States (map)

Tickets must be reserved individually per each attendee. Masks are required for entry and must be worn fully for the duration of your visit.

The Bakery is thrilled to present Something’s Missing an exhibition highlighting life through the lens of Black photographers. At the forefront of movements of liberation, the work of Black photographers deserves to be supported in their fight against the exclusion they face due to their identities. Something’s Missing uplifts Black photographers, showcasing their work as a step in correcting the historical disadvantage they have faced. Curated by Zachary Francois, Something’s Missing is the culmination of their time in The Bakery’s Studio Residency Program.

Featured artists include: Arielle Bobb-Willis, Alexis Childress, Glynn Kavozia, Danae Antoine, Jillian Browning, Keamber Pearson, Jourdan Barnes, Arieanne Evans, Jaleel Porcha, Juanese Davis, Demetri Burke, Benjamin Willis, Chelsea Mukenya, Kendall Bessent, and Kelli Mckinney. The individual work will be for sale alongside an exhibition book.

I’m curating this show as an ode to those artists who paved the way for us, that were recognized by major institutions. Our homage also includes artists not previously recognized, yet who richly contributed to contemporary photography.”  - Zachary Francois (they/them)

Zachary is a photographer and artist based in Atlanta. They are currently pursuing a degree in Arts Core Curriculum at Georgia State University and are presenting Something’s Missing as their final project in our Studio Residency Program.
