Ladies of the Bath: A Solo Exhibition Exploring Self-Care as an Act of Feminine Resistance

  • The Bakery East Point 1526 East Forrest Avenue East Point, Ga (map)

Tickets must be reserved individually per each attendee. Masks are required for entry and must be worn fully for the duration of your visit.

We are thrilled to present Ladies of the Bath, an immersive experience that highlights the importance of self-care and maintaining self-sustaining rituals. This multifaceted exhibition features paintings, collage, a soundscape, and an installation nature scene that incites relaxation and reflection. This is the first solo exhibition by Danae Antoine, the culmination of her time spent with The Bakery in our Studio Residency Program. Danae’s work is inspired by her personal experiences and her research on how women respond to trauma. Exploring the role women play in times of crisis, she was drawn to make work about the importance of self-care and spirituality.

“Self care, an adopted belief system, and maintaining their traditions in hard times is ultimately what allows these women to persevere. Their goddess, a symbol used throughout Ladies of the Bath, is a religious figure of strength and hope that provides these women with the ability to reach a higher self. Their belief system and their focus on self-care allow the ladies to be in control of maintaining and evolving their own sense of self.”  - Danae Antoine (she/they).

Danae Antoine is an interdisciplinary artist located in Atlanta, Georgia, focusing on film,  painting, photography, drawing, and printmaking. She is currently an artist in residence at The Bakery and is pursuing a BFA at Georgia State University.

Ladies of the Bath will be on view March 25th - 28th via donation-based timed tickets at Jefferson Station in East Point. All ticket funds raised will help support the Bakery’s new Studio Residency Program in East Point. This show is facilitated by Danae Antoine and The Bakery. Attendees must wear a mask the entire time they are on the property.
