Introducing The Studio Residency Program for Artists and Creatives!

The Bakery is back! In 2021, we're giving you a new program and new ways to support us.

The Bakery is excited to announce its plans for a Studio Residency Program in 2021. Inspired by presenting at the 2019 NEWaukee Empty Storefronts Conference, The Bakery Founder and Creative Director, Willow Goldstein, proposes a more focused path in 2021.

Guided by Culture Labs, this initiative aims to model artist-focused community development within an urban setting. Rethinking the traditional drop-ceiling office space, Goldstein has crafted the program around the possibilities, and limitations, of the space itself. The program will focus on providing direct support to working artists with one-on-one guidance to help them build practical skills for their creative careers.

Partially modeled after Eyedrum Art & Music Gallery’s Show + Tell and artist development programs like IGNITE by C4 Atlanta, The Studio Residency Program will strive for creative growth by coupling artist-to-artist support with direct facilitation via mentorships and resources. The program is intended to foster advancement through collaboration and critical reflection in a hands-on learning environment.

The Studio Residency Program offers private studios, shared spaces, career “hand-holding” classes, and skill-building workshops through a structured program that will be altered to best fit those who apply. Goldstein will act as the main facilitator with guest appearances by core members of The Bakery team who will share their specialized knowledge with the studio residents. The program is currently structured to accommodate up to 24 creatives throughout the year in quarterly cohorts.
