About the Artists
Eve Brown is a multi-disciplinary artist and movement teacher based in Atlanta, GA. Brown’s work begins first in fascination. Through this lens, their work investigates connection, relationships and change. They are particularly interested in the magic contained within “ordinary”, domestic spaces, and how what is “inner” is inherently connected to what is “outer”.
Camisha Butler is an Atlanta-based textile artist/educator. Her work is informed by Neo-Luddite philosophy and the act of preserving and promoting the traditional craft practices of the ancestors. A natural storyteller, she uses a colorful joyful aesthetic to communicate social commentary and autobiographical reflections through craft based medias such as weaving, applique, embroidery and handbuilding pottery.
About Sweetwater Creek State Park
Sweetwater Creek State Park is a peaceful tract of wilderness only minutes from downtown Atlanta. Rental yurts opened in 2015 along the lake. A wooded trail follows the stream to the ruins of the New Manchester Manufacturing Company, a textile mill burned during the Civil War. Beyond the mill, the trail climbs rocky bluffs to provide views of the beautiful rapids below. Additional trails wind through fields and forest, showcasing ferns, magnolias, wild azaleas and hardwoods. Park rangers lead informative hikes to these areas throughout the year.
