The Bakery Atlanta proudly presents If The Creek Don’t Rise, scheduled to be on view August 18th-August 25th, curated by Lindsay Thomaston and Chrysta Avers. This exhibition will serve as a fundraiser for The Atlanta Solidarity Fund.
Showcasing 30+ southern artists throughout the country, If The Creek Don’t Rise is a multimedia art exhibition celebrating the resilience, resourcefulness, and beauty of the diverse American South through the lens of the Southern Gothic. In a region fraught with ongoing legislative strife and continued disenfranchisement, how do new generations explore the region’s rich and complex cultural history while grappling with inequities both past and present? Like the reclamatory sprawl of kudzu to a decaying monument, If the Creek Don’t Rise is a hopeful exploration of community and forging new traditions that seeks to challenge preconceived notions of the Southern populace.
We are proud to partner with local food vendors, musicians, and drag performers for our gallery hours. We kindly ask that you tip the performers. This exhibition will also feature a mini artist market.
