Dust to Dollars: A Bakery Fundraiser Event ~ Opening Reception

  • The Supermarket 638 North Highland Avenue Northeast Atlanta, GA, 30306 United States (map)

The Bakery Atlanta acquired dozens of fading, vintage artwork that originally hung in the
Highland Inn, a historic Poncey-Highland landmark that closed it’s doors in 2021 after
almost 100 years. Diverting these pieces from the landfill, The Bakery team has curated
20+ Atlanta artists to revive the work with their own styles.

The show, aptly named Dust toDollars, is a fundraiser exhibition that celebrates The
Bakery’s seventh birthday! Since 2017, this organization has produced hundreds of
unique and experimental art programs while consistently creating space and
opportunities for emerging artists. In alignment with The Bakery’s DIY ethos and their
mission of broadening awareness of, and building community around, progressive ideas
in the arts, this upcycled art show creates collaboration and play between an old Atlanta
institution and the arts community of today.

This show is also a celebration of their new home, TheSupermarket, where they are
proud to be the anchor tenant and programming partner as of June 2024. The
Supermarket is located in the lower level of The Shops at Otto’s, neighboring the
previous Highland Inn space that has now been converted to Otto’s Apartment Hotel.
All artwork featured in the show will be auctioned with bids starting at $100 and
proceeds benefiting The Bakery’s year end fundraising campaign, aiming to raise
$10,000 towards their ongoing GoFundMe efforts.
