The Bakery at Atlanta Streets Alive 2019!

In 2019, The Bakery produced Transit Lounges at Atlanta Streets Alive: Southwest in partnership with MARTA Artbound.

We took the core aspects of The Bakery - experimentation, collaboration, and play - to the streets of Southwest Atlanta! We partnered with MARTA Artbound to bring the public visually unique and welcoming seating areas at three bus stops along the route. We produced three lounge-able installations at Atlanta Streets Alive on Sunday, September 29, 2019. With these experiences, we promoted playful and thoughtful sustainable living through public transportation.

Artbound is MARTA’s public art program, dedicated to helping you enjoy the ride! With engaging visual art, dance, theater, and live music, we hope the stations will feel like destinations in themselves, a place to see or hear something that brightens your day.

Atlanta Streets Alive is a program with an advocacy initiative that aims to advance safe streets for all. This year's routes are focused on areas slated for street improvements through Renew Atlanta. This event is FREE and fun for all ages! Experience the history, culture, spirit, and pride in Atlanta's southwest neighborhoods and communities. We invite you, your friends, and family to enjoy our city streets as public space.
