School Bus Buildout for Jo Peace & Fam

Join us as at The Bakery as we help transform “Daisy d’Skoolie” into long-term housing for a recently-disabled queer Atlanta movement artist & family: Jo Peace + 16yo son Noah + two pets.

Jo abruptly became disabled last May, after purchasing and gutting the bus, but before the build could really begin -- Jo physically can’t continue the work and needs our help.

We’ve given Daisy a home for the summer at The Bakery, and we’re rallying to get the bus ready to live in by August, when Jo hopes to move their skoolie home and little family to a more permanent location somewhere in the Grady HS district for Noah.

We have tools and materials on-hand for some of the next steps, and Jo is onsite most days to help coordinate and direct but needs able bodies to help with the work. Whether you’re a master carpenter or have never wielded a hammer, there’s something you can do (and you might get to learn some new skills along the way)!

Organized workdays will be weekends in July, 10am - 6pm.
Saturday 7/13 - Sunday 7/14
Saturday 7/20 - Sunday 7/21
Saturday 7/28 - Sunday 7/29

Have a free morning or afternoon? Come lend a hand for an hour or two. And if you can’t make the weekend workdays but would still like to help, just get in touch and we’ll coordinate another time when Jo, friends, or supporters will be around.
