Breath Well: An Introduction to Pranayama (at The Bakery)

Prana is described as life energy, and through a variety of breathing techniques known as Pranayama, we can begin to guide the breath to find dynamic energy in our asana practice and ways to sustain it throughout our everyday life. As our breath connects the conscious mind to the unconscious, we can guide the breath and access many benefits including clarity of mind, full oxygenation of the body, and an opportunity for our bodies to work more efficiently. Just as quick, uncontrolled breath can cause panic or disorientation (like when hyperventilating), learning to guide the breath can offer us space for calmness and strength. 

This two hour workshop offers a mixture of instruction including alignment and posture, an introduction to the use of bandhas (energetic locks), and the Global Alignment Principles so that all of the breathing techniques explored are comfortable and our bodies work most effectively both on and off the mat. Props will be explored to maintain ease throughout the practice.

This workshop is ideal for those looking to dive deeper in to their practice or anyone new to yoga. Price includes written and digital content for reference so that you can continue to practice these new techniques at home.
